Annual Report 2012-2013

Our Mission

Bring awareness to the environmental crisis facing India, and its economic and social  impact on rural and farming communities

Promote and support solutions to rural hunger and poverty in India via sustainable organic farming and biodiversity conservation and to protect and preserve indigenous knowledge.

SEEDS OF HOPE
Navdanya's core program is protection of Seeds and Glossary Link Biodiversity and Glossary Link Organic Farming.

GARDENS OF HOPE
India is facing two very serious emergencies related to food and agriculture. One is the agrarian crisis, epitomized with the tragedy of 260,000 farmer suicides, and the second is the hunger and malnutrition crisis which has led to the wasting and stunting of nearly half of India's children. The Gardens of Hope program addresses both crisis’s, by showing how more nutrition can be produced at lower cost by indigenous organic farming thereby reducing debt, which is at the root of suicides. This program also reverses malnutrition by encouraging rural farmers especially women to grow food for personal needs in addition to cash crops. Above all , Gardens of Hope allows the most vulnerable victims of the crisis, the women and children ,to become part of the solution.

REJUVENATION of Coastal MANGROVES in ORISSA
